I love a sunburnt country

    Newer Older

    I love a sunburnt country,
    A land of sweeping plains,
    Of ragged mountain ranges,
    Of drought and flooding rains,
    I love her far horizons,
    I love her jewel sea,
    Her beauty and her terror -
    The wide brown land for me.
    Dorothea MacKellar
    We went for a trip to Cowra for the weekend. So I had a go at landscapes for a change ,as there was so much beautiful countryside along the way

      Brilliant! When I was younger I worked as a jillaroo and had to fix windmills from time to time. This just brought back so many memories - thank you!!!!

      We sang this last night with our "singaustralia" choir and the thought occurred to me that you could illustrate each line with a photo, in a set, or Gallery!

      Psycho Oz!
      by Kerry Cue

      Australians all let us freak out,
      For we are spooked you see;
      We've a scary land, we don't understand;
      Our home is so creepy.
      Our land's red heart is sort of weird
      There's freaking nothing there!
      We cling to the coast, a British outpost;
      Freak out Australia, yeah!

      I love a psycho country
      A land of badass plains
      Of whacko mountain ranges
      Sick droughts and random rains
      I lover her weird horizons
      I lover her aggro sea
      Her tarty mad bitch manner
      The looney land for me!
