RAW (6) Naphtha Cracker

Netherlands, Rotterdam, Katendrecht, RAW Expo, Naphta Cracker (Atelier van Lieshout) (uncut)

OK, let's continue with our llittle excursion into the RAW world of industrial and alternative art.

Displayed here is a detail (the distillation column) of the Naphta Cracker made by Atelier van Lieshout .

About this installation (from the exposition catalogue): "... This metal production unit is meant to make plastics. It reminds us of the machines he (Joep van Lieshout) made at art school. Then he was a craftsman wanting to make everything himself. he still wants to to so. He succeeds as ever which doesn't come as a surprise anymore"

Shot at the RAW EXPO. RAW stands for Rotterdam Art Works it's a platform for alternative, industrial and urban art; established and emerging.

The RAW EXPO took place in the Fenix veem, a former warehouse in Katendrecht.

The sculptures and installations in the expo were selected by Piet de Jonge (former chief curator of the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum and Museum Kröller Müller), Ruth Horstmanshoff and Teodora Kotseva
