Portugal, Algarve, Sotavento, Ria Formosa, Tavira, Salina (uncut)
A salina (salt pan) with a small dike and sluice near the bank of the tidal Gilhão river between Tavira and Quatro Äguas. The salina is operated by the Rui Simeão Tavira Sal sea salt works .
After Dirk's question about the colour I did some googlin' and found out that it's due to the Halobacterium salinarum a salt loving bacteria - typical for salt pans.
The soundtrack: Fado dos olhos- Katia Guireiro. She's alas not much known outside Portugal and perhaps the most 'classic' contemporary fadista. And the pure way she projects emotion lets hardly no one untouched (and no, Katia Guireiro isn't blind - that would be a tad unpractical being a physician - she only performs with her eyes closed).
