MARGO ( the cat)

The backyard directly behind us-- over the pecky cedar 6-foot fence, is considerably overgrown, Judging by some of the midnight feline combat and other portents of habitation, this yard is a kind of refuge camp for wandering cats.
I think the house belongs to an older lady who lost her daughter in the famous communter train accident in L.A. a few years back. She seems a bit melancholy when we see her on our walks, watering her trimmed front yard with a hose.
One cat who spends time in "the jungle" as it is known to the neighbors, is Margo. At dusk one can hear the bereaved lady calling out "MAR-GO" . . .
I call this visitor cat ( she likes to nap in the shadow of our Saint Francis statue) Margo Lane, after the slinky girlfriend the Shadow / Lamont Cranston keeps in his eponymous adventures. They are both slinky and golden-haired.
When the film version of THE SHADOW came out some years ago (1994), the part of Margo Lane was played by Penelope Ann Miller:
