Joe Overstreet Landing, 20 miles south of St.Cloud, FL--the pair of cranes flew in as I pulled in to the parking area. I was disappointed in the location after having driven for 2 hours only to discover that it was little more than a boat ramp on to Lake Kissimmee. However, Lake Kissimme is well-known for habitat for whooping cranes (note the bands on both and transmitter on one) and snail kites. Sure enough, as I circled the parking area, I spotted a female snail kite perched in a tree a short distance away. As I was parking my car, this pair of whoopers flew in and landed out in the pasture, eventually working their way closer to me.

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Florida Conservation Photographers, and we'd love to have your photo added to the group.

Cool shot. Is this from the Chasshowitzska?

I'm not sure what that is! If you take Hwy 192 to Canoe Creek Rd. (CR 523, Vermont Ave.) in St. Cloud and go south about 20 miles, you will turn right onto Joe Overstreet Rd. Go about 5.4 miles, across a cattle guard, I think, to the end of the road, which is apparently a small county park. You will think you're going the wrong way, because there are cattle pastures on either side, and driveways into each of them. If I remember correctly, stay either in the middle or toward the right.
