Cycles of Brass
Cycles of Brass is a dynamic and meditative installation by Attaya Projects, exhibited at the DLI Art Gallery in Durham, in conjunction with the Brass Durham International Festival. In this installation, two brass instruments suspended in separate aquariums are exposed to opposite chemical processes. Aging the surface of one instrument while restoring that of the other, these processes occurring before our eyes are transformed through digital technology to create an abstract brass soundscape gently evoking the transient nature of brass music culture throughout history.
