African Renaissance Monument

Was a fun session. Not very happy with the results, so a great reason to go back and try again in better light.

Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) 7' Rok

      The Ricoh's doing great, Jeff.

Ehm, almost dear not to ask... closer?

Last time, I was here the police chased me away. This time, I set up a half a mile away and slowly brought the kite closer and closer. Luckily, the police did not take notice, but the closer I got the stronger the wind got and my 7' Rok started hunting a wee bit, so I thought it was better to call it a day. This is the Senegalese Presidents pet project and the last thing I need to do is wrap a rig, meters of line, and a kite around this monument. I am going to try again a wee bit later in the afternoon when the sun is at a better angle. This thing sits on a large hill and I believe another variable I must contend with is the wind turbulence created by the hill.

Oh yes, I remember you told us. It's always a surprise how the authorities react to 'strange objects' in the sky. But it's good you keep some reservation when you get to this thing. Maybe the best wind is coming from the ocean as it probably is the most stable one.

Nice shot. I know the feeling well of wanting to improve.
While we see wonder, you see what can be better.
      I think its quite cool.
