In the KAP community I have heard it is obligatory to submit a self portrait while doing a KAP session. Here is mine.
I went to the park at Ada Lake in Belgrade. Winds were steady at 10mph, but would fall to 5-8mph for periods of time. These winds were too low for the FF16 with a rig attached. I tested weight on the line that is a bit heavier than my rig and the FF16 handled it ok, but I was not comfortable. I got over confident and I should have never put the rig in the air and I almost paid dearly for it. I got the gear up for about ten minutes and the wind dropped. My rig soon followed. Lucky, only some bent leg brackets, which were easily repaired. Lessons learned and I do not think I will put my rig in the air for a while.
I need to learn more about flying kites. I have also ordered three more kites that should give me a larger wind range. Even with those kites, I am going to fly them without the rig until I learn more about the individual characteristics. Without a doubt, I will never test the lower wind range of the Flow Form 16 again. Lesson learned...
