This is the Galant table from IKEA.
It feels more organized and spacier.

Nice setup! Where'd you get the conversion kit for the white iphone?

Also, are you able to use the iMac as a display for the PC?

  2. Andrew Duong 37 months ago | reply

Thanks! I got the kit a long while back from whiteiphone4now.com (RIP).
And yes, I am able to use my iMac as a display for the PC. It took a lot of research to figure out which video card was capable of it. Gaming at 2560x1440 is just incredible!

Nice! I'm also thinking about getting this table.

Can you tell me what video card you are using in your gaming PC?

I'm also going to buy a 27" iMac soon, and thinking about building a PC for gaming.

I have the ASUS AMD 6850. Any 4000 series and 6000 series AMD card should be able to use the iMac as a display as long as it has displayport/mini displayport. If it has Eyefinity, should be a good assurance, too.

    Ok, thanks for you help.

Can the ASUS AMD 6850 really handle gaming in 2560 x 1440?
What games are you playing, and how is the framerate?
How much RAM has your videocard?

Sorry for all the questions ;D

I played Crysis 2 at 2560x1440 with some stuttering at intense scenes. (not overclocked)
Crysis isn't my kind of game. Battlefield 3 is what I'm waiting for.
But right now i'm playing Portal 2 seamlessly.
I would've got the 6970, but at the time it was too expensive for my budget.

Also, I'm unsure if the video card in the iMac has a part in any of this, it's something i need to look into.

What's that mount you're using for the Beats? I have the same desk and headphones, and was sorta looking for a solution...

It's a Sennheiser headphone holder. Just google it exactly, and it should show up.
It looks big in the pictures, but it's really compact.

Is this the table you are using? www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S19836967

Your table seems bigger than the one i saw at IKEA.

Yep, that's the table i have. It looks smaller in the store.
I made a cardboard cutout with the exact dimensions to see how it would fit in my space.
If you don't need that corner part, getting the regular table is just as good. I just got the corner one just in case in the future i would want to extend it.

    Hey, it's me again ;)

Do you feel that there is enough space between you and the 27" monitor? It's a big monitor, and it would suck to sit to close.

Is the "corner-leg/feet" in the way if you sit at the corner-part of the table?

  12. Andrew Duong 36 months ago | reply

Yeah, this was the reason i got a new desk. My previous desk made me way too close to the screen, my current setup puts me 2 feet or more from the screen. And the adjustable height on the table, helps keep the monitor lower for ergonomics.

As for the corner leg, it doesn't get in my way because i don't need to get access in that area anyway. The table portion of the curved part does tend to get in the way if you have a swivel chair. I'll upload some different angle shots. Hope this helps :D

I have the same desk and love the depth on it. I also have extensions going in both directions (it's pretty easy to extend it to be whatever size you want). It's awesome, I highly recommend it!

In case you were curious, the Galant (with A-legs) does a decent job as a standing desk, I just converted mine (check my photostream if you want pics). That is, however, assuming you're 5'11" or shorter. Any taller, and it wouldn't be ideal.
