On January 25 and 26, 2013, The Atlanta Opera hosted the third annual 24-Hour Opera Project. Selected composers, lyricists, stage directors and opera singers were randomly put into teams and had 24 hours to compose, stage and rehearse a 10-minute opera. Performances were judged by a panel of industry professionals and by the audience, who also tuned in via live webcast. This year’s theme was “Convicing Confession.” The Judges’ Favorite Award was presented to “The Puddle of Youth” by composer Natalie Williams, and librettist Vynnie Meli. The Audience Favorite went to “Beach and Moan,” composed by Evan Mack, with libretto by William Samuel Bradford.
