Henry Ford Museum - Tesla's Head

    Newer Older

This was from a little display entitled 'Henry Ford and Thomas Edison's Enemies and How They Were Crushed'. Well, not exactly, but Edison hated Tesla. I think that may be why Tesla's death mask seems to be on display here. Next best thing to his head on a lance.

Tesla was pushing AC for powering homes, and Edison was pushing DC, even though it was very impractical. It's always funny when you find out about some 'forefather's' real personalities after being taught something different when you're in school. In short, Edison was pretty much a dick.

I read a weird book called "Edison and the Electric Chair" on how Edison pushed behind the scenes for AC-powered electrocutions--hoping the scary PR would help him win the War of the Currents....

Actually the Buckminster house was a temporary exhibit that's gone now. But this head remains...along with all of the other cool items there.
