ngc7380, the Wizard nebula
I rarely do false colour composites, so this approach was a bit ... um ... creative.
It's mostly mapped to R:G:B using Ha:(S2/O3):O3 ... but I also added a S2:Ha:O3 layer (blended in), and some tone mapping as well (see J.P.M.'s awesome technique) in order to boost the weak S2 and O3 signal.
The stars are pretty bland ... I plan to capture them in RGB and overlay here.
Telescope = Takahashi FSQ 85 EDX with .73 reducer (f/3.9)
Camera = QSI 583 wsg
Mount = SkyWatcher EQ6 Pro
Software = capture and stacking in MaximDL, processing in PS CS5
Exposure (Ha:S2:O3, minutes) = 100:180:180
Dates = August/September 2012
