NGC7023 Iris Nebula area

I was really uncertain if to public this image. This is the first one taken during our tests of the Veloce RH200 in Austria last september. It has been taken during two nights. On the very first night the telescope was slightly misaligned and we had a bad filterset, causing strong haloes and rings on bright stars. The resulting frames had stars slightly out of focus on one side and in focus on the other. On the second night we had the telescope collimated and with a new filterset so the frames where good enough but we had bad seeing and subtle fog. A lot of gradients comes out. In the end, processing of the image was a true nightmare! I decided to publish it anyway 'cos I think, despite the overall quality wich is bad to me, the field is really interesting (4.5° diagonal) and inspiring. The whole area is filled with dust and nebulosity and structures.

Thanks for watching this so so image...
