Place of remembrance

The Finnish National Poet Aleksis Kivi (1834-1872) died in this cottage which now is a memorial place for him.

 

Aleksis Kivi was the Finnish author who wrote the first significant novel in the Finnish language, "Seven Brothers", published in 1870. At that time in Finland the most common language used in publishing was Swedish.
