A MOMENT OF SPLENDOR | by Aspenbreeze

It was to be a wonderful winter adventure like other winter trips we have taken. WAS TO BE is the key. The polar vortex had other plans for us. We went to Monument Valley on New Years Eve expecting a beautiful excursion. About Blanning it all turned to ground fog and was like that all the way in to the Valley. The valley was CLOSED due to mud and fog. We could only stand on the veranda and take photos of, well, FOG with the bottom of the mittens showing. We forgot about our reservations and went back home. (we are five hours from MV) Let the next day for our planned trip to the Tetons. Surely it would be better right? Four days there and never saw the mountains, not even their bottoms! Ground fog and snow the whole time. Left taking what the map showed to be the least weather way home ... through Idaho, Utah and over to CO. Drove in blizzard for almost two full dys. Ground fog, snow, and wind. So many cars off the road. So, this wonderful winter trip was a bust but we had an ADVENTURE anyway! Only got a few photos I would ever share as they are all dark and gloomy. But the highlight for me was finding this bull moose in Warm Springs near antelopeflats. If only there had been light. But I LOVED watching him roam about in the springs eating the snow clad bushes!
