Public Talk: Serving Artists Serves the Public
Arts & Festivals, who really cares? On 20 May from 5pm at LASALLE College of the Arts, directors of well-known festivals gathered to debate how artists can help define cultures and how arts festivals can be a catalyst for a creative, vibrant society.
Mr Kris Peeters, Minister-President of Flanders, Belgium, opened the event. Ms Robyn Archer, Creative Director of The Centenary of Canberra and Artistic Director of the Light in Winter festival, delivered the keynote speech before opening the floor for discussion with the panel with leading festival experts. The talk was part of the first Asian edition of the Atelier for Young Festival Managers, an intensive training programme for emerging festival makers which was initiated by the European Festivals Association (EFA). The talk and the Atelier programme was co-organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation, LASALLE College of the Arts and EFA.
