The Swan Escapes
This is another photo exploring the story of the swan maidens, who live in a far away land as swans, but like to come and visit our world and bathe in our lakes. Don't ask me why they like to do this. When they do, they take off their swan feather gown and turn into beautiful young girls, who are highly coveted by the men of our world. If the men steal their feather gowns, the maidens are unable to transform back into swans and fly away back to their world. Many a unscrupulous man has found himself a wife this way, holding her feather gown hostage.
But all the maiden needs to do is find her feather gown again and she can transform back into her true shape and fly away, none the worse for wear. She will always be young and beautiful. And if she has been forces to bear children during her captivity in our world, that means nothing to her. She will leave them behind without a backward glance in order to regain her freedom.
This was taken at the Brooke Shaden Workshop I attended last weekend, which I highly recommend. It was a wonderful time and I learned a lot!
