CGTN Blacksmithing the Trunk
This photoset shows the blacksmithing of all of the metal parts of the Children's Gift to Norway trunk. This work was done by the Guild of Metalsmiths under direction of artist Tom Latane of Pepin, Wisconsin.

This work was done with the old historic methods were used on the original immigrant trunks that carried the belongings of Norwegians settling in North America. Even the nails were made by hand.

The work was done at Tunnel Mill in Spring Valley, Minnesota. Spring Valley was one of the earliest Norwegian settlements in Minnesota.

Please look to additional photosets for the construction and the painting of the trunk.
