Artisan Bricks by Jeffrey Kong - LEGO Shophouse Mini Singapore - LEGO Architecture #FillTheGap First Place Winner
Hurray from Singapore! Thank you LEGO Architecture and BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group for choosing my mini Singapore shophouse as the first place winner for the #FillTheGap competition in March 2015. It is a great honour to be selected from so many awesome entries from around the world. This photo was taken outside the Singtel Comcentre facing Killiney Road.
Winners of the second round!
The BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group jury has chosen the winners:
"More great entries to #FillTheGap hasn’t made choosing the top 3 any easier, and is really a testament of the creativity and imagination of LEGO builders everywhere. It’s a continual inspiration for us, so keep the amazing LEGO builds coming!
1st Place: Jeffrey Kong
How to conserve heritage buildings such as shophouses (buildings with a retail storefront at ground level and residences on top) and their associated urban memories has long been a topic of discussion in Singapore – a city in constant and rapid change. We loved that this build uses a perfect blend of LEGO bricks at just the right scale and level of abstraction to be reminiscent of modern and traditional elements in a shophouse – a playful vision of conservation by LEGO bricks!
