The Moody Sunset - HDR + Orton

I thought i will just try this sunset shot with HDR. Surprisely it turns out really natural as if i am in front of it now! That evening was pretty cloudy and overcast at certain area. Love how the cloud swirl along... reminds me of chocolate marble cake for some reason haha! Please sit back & enjoy the nice sunset with me :)

Sunset at Adelaide River Torrens

The shot

Standard 3 exposures HDR shot with tripod using the Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens and a polarized light filter

- Added a layer effect of 'curves' to decrease just a bit of contrast

- Added another layer effect to decrease the yellow saturation to reduce the harshness of the sunset

- Used 'unsharp mask' ( as always ) on the background layer

Orton Effect

- Duplicate 2 copies of the background layer.

- Change the Blending mode of one of them to screen.

- Merge with the other layer.

- Duplicate another copy of this layer and perform Gaussian Blur (I use a value of 19 in this case)

- Change the blending mode of this blurred layer to Multiply

- Adjust the opacity of this current layer which is 50% for this image

- Finally, perform another 'unsharp mask' for this completed layer

All comments, criticism and tips for improvements are ( as always ) welcome.
