My friend and 100 stranger newbie, Katya_Photography, and I were sheltering from the pouring rain in Spitalfields market when I passed the "Camden Flowers" stall with some incredible head bands made of flowers all hanging in a row. The head bands were set up in such way that I thought it would make a great setting for a portrait. I had decided that I would not take pictures of shop owners/staff so I moved on. But then, I couldn't stop thinking about it and I felt that in this case I should break this rule.
Kat who works in the store was already standing there in almost the perfect position. I asked her for a portrait and she got all shy saying that she wasn't photogenic, but I persisted and she agreed.
My first few shots had more of the headbands in the frame but for some reason it didn't work. I then decided to move in closer and got this shot which I was happy with. I think the key for me in this portrait was to get Kat to relax. I managed to make her laugh (see picture in the comments) which came out soft and this was the final shot which I hope she likes.
Thank you Kat for being stranger no 20 in my project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the
