Stranger 118 - Andres
The best part about the 100 stranger get together this weekend in London was meeting new people, both on the stranger side and fellow 100 stranger photographers. I really enjoyed hanging out with everyone and was especially happy to get going with Andres' portrait.
This was one of those scenarios where I had found the perfect stranger but had no background as such, I approached anyway and Andres was game. He was in Brick Lane and was just waiting for his friends who had ducked into a shop.
Andres is Columbian but has been in the UK for a long time. I was surprised as he had a spanishy accent and so I asked him how long he had been living here. He said 35 years, my jaw dropped, no way are you 35 years I said, nope I am 40 he said.
The shot itself was a close in headshot with a reflector underneath. When I showed him the pictures he noted his squinty eye, something I guess he is completely aware of and knows to look out for. I took another shot where I got him to squint the other eye to balance it out. However, I chose not to post that one since the expression is better here. I almost always will choose expression over anythingelse and this was the case in this shot. I will also cover this in more detail on my next blog post (www.arnabkghosal.com).
Anyway, thanks so much for this portrait Andres. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the
