Household hazardous waste disposal

The Environmental Division, Recycle Program, and Fort Hood Family Housing partnered together to remind the Fort Hood community to think green by safely disposing of unwanted household hazardous waste, like oil-based paint, pesticides, and batteries, and also electronic waste during the Household Hazardous and Bulk Recycle Turn-In event. The Fort Hood community helped Environmental divert truckloads of electronic waste and household hazardous products, more than 500 tires, 3060 pounds of scrap metal, and 200 pounds from tires with rims, undamaged batteries, and other recyclables from ending up in the landfill. The event is planned to continue and be conducted semiannual in conjunction of the installation’s fall and spring clean up events.
