High Spectral Resolution Lidar

The laser from the high spectral resolution lidar (right) pierces the Arctic sky, and illuminates the cloud radar behind it. The HSRL provides calibrated measurements of aerosol optical depth, backscatter, cross section, and depolarization. It was purchased through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for the ARM site in Barrow, Alaska.

The micropulse lidar beam is also faintly visible just to the left of the HSRL.
