Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand
Chiang Mai was the capital of Lanna kingdom (13th to 18th century AD) in northern Thailand. It is a fortified city with a surrounding moat and many old temples within. The most famous one is Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, located on a hilltop, northwest to the city.

My visit to this city and the northern Thailand area was a part of a series of my visits to the ancient capitals of Thai and Cambodian kingdoms from 6th to 18th May 2017.
