The Traces of Pajajaran Kingdom
Pajajaran (1030-1579 AD) was the last and most renowned of all Sundanese ancient kingdoms before Islam made way to West Java and held full sway.

Despite its grandeur as known through Sundanese folklores, few is known about its archaeological left overs. By using as guide the notes of early Dutch explorers of the 17th century to the city of Bogor, where almost all historians agree the Pajajaran capital to be located, we tracked again the remains of this once great kingdom.

Pajajaran is a case example of a late and failed archaeological preservation. After our journey, we found out that most of this kingdom's remains as recorded by the early Dutch explorers have been lost to time and the development of the modern Bogor city.
