The Traces of Singosari Kingdom
Singosari was the predecessor of Majapahit, the last of Java's most powerful Hindu-Buddhist kingdom.

Founded by Ken Arok who revolted against the kingdom of Kediri, Singosari successfully repelled the Mongol invasion of Java.

According to Blasius Suprapta, a local historian, Singosari had 2 palaces in 2 different locations; one in the city centre of Malang from the era of Ken Arok and another one in the vicinity of Singosari temple in northern Malang from the era afterwards -both of which I visited during my trip to Malang on December 23-26, 2017 to photograph the traces of this enigmatic yet beautiful kingdom.
