German Map of Samoa, 1914
This map of Samoa and surrounds contains information in relation to the urban and rural geography of Samoa during the late period of German Administration. The physical map itself broken into many pieces and has been stitched together digitally.
The map was donated by Mrs Jessie Harris to the Bank of New Zealand Archives in 1976, who then transferred it to Archives New Zealand. According to her letter to BNZ Archives, when New Zealand took over German Samoa in the First World War, her father, Mr. T.E. Corkill was sent there by the New Zealand Government to help with the transition from German to British administration.
