The Oval Plaza measures 90 x 80 m (295 x 262.5 ft) and is surrounded by a broad sidewalk and a colonnade of 1st Century Ionic columns. There are two altars in the middle and a fountain was added in the 7th Century AD. Jerash, Jordan
Jerash, 48 kilometres (30 mi) from of Amman is considered one of the largest and most well-preserved Roman sites in the world outside Italy. Archaeologists have found the ruins of settlements dating back to the Neolithic Age, indicating human occupation at this location for more than 6500 years.
