Cathedral Italian Garden
As part of the restoration of the Cathedral a cloister-style garden was created on its eastern flank. It was opened in May 2011 by Archbishop Conti and First Minister Alex Salmond in the presence of the Italian Consul Dott Gabiele Papadia and the new UK Ambassador to the Holy See Nigel Baker. The garden was furnished and decorated thanks to donations from the Italian community in Scotland and the central monument recalls the tragedy of the Arandora Star.
