This was only my second visit to Sol Duc Falls--the first involved much rain and mud and I had my original Canon 300D. It felt like a different world this time. Glowing fairyland sunlight coming through the trees and a better artistic tool to bring it back with.

This was my shot from last time. It's fun for me to compare and see how I change, grow and see scenes differently.

I've noticed that shooting with the D700 has made me a more careful photographer. I didn't tend to rush before, but I now methodically check everything before I take a picture. It really helps with silly mistakes, and grounds me in a scene. With the fantastic low-light detail, I'm able to really, truly trust my histogram--much like a film negative. It's all there.

And what a glorious place. I wish you could have been there to see the golden rays filtering through the forest on the mist of the waterfall, heard the sound of the rushing water and felt the mist on your face. Hopefully the photo can help you imagine.
