A poignant photo by Robert Capa:
Before the remains of the dead were interred nearby at the familiar American cemetery in Coleville-sur-Mer, a makeshift provisional cemetery was established here. The dead were buried all along a stretch of coast between the villages of Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer and Vierville-sur-Mer.
457 bodies in all were buried here, before orders came to move the bodies to a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach, at Coleville-sur-Mer.
