Saint-Laurent-Sur-Mer ; Operation "Aquatint"
Plaque along the beach wall at Saint-Laurent-Sur-Mer (just steps from our B & B where we were staying).
The plaque commemorates a small scale raiding party of British commandos who were captured and taken as prisoners of war prior to the D-Day invasion of the coastal beaches.
The marker reads:
This plaque is to commemorate the landing of 12th September 1942 of British commandos led by Major March Phillips engaged on operation "Aquatint " "
