Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer (Omaha Beach)
The cliffs of Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer overlooking Omaha Beach.
Our B&B was only a few steps from the shore.
It was surreal to ride along the shore front road and watch hundreds of men, women, and children resting, strolling and playing on the clean sand of this historic beach. If it weren’t for the monuments and signage, conspicuous in only a few places, you’d never suspect that this was a place of carnage and horror on that Longest Day seventy years ago. What an odd, melancholy feeling.
