A 12-Star Resplendor

Also known as the "Doce Estrellas"

Late 18th / Early 19th Century

Spanish Colonial

The simplest form of the Resplendor (the radiance or resplendence that surrounds the head of images of the Virgin), this halo of twelve stars is set in a simple silver nimbus. Came from an image of the Madonna. Mounted on a wrought iron stand.

Measures: 11 1/2"diam

Seen in an antique shop in Rancho Sta. Fe.
