Dashiell Hammett Street

Taken in July 1990.

In his crime novels, Dashiell Hammett often referenced specific street locations in San Francisco. People now take tours of those streets to follow the adventures of Sam Spade and the Continental Op, his detectives. In 1988, the city returned the favor, naming a block-long downtown street for him, one on which he actually lived.
