s lucia and s agata

By Girolamo Siciolante da Sermoneta, a follower of Raphael, this is a painting in S. Maria sopra Minerva. Saint Lucy was martyred by plucking her own eyes out, while St Agatha was tortured by having her breasts cut off with red hot pincers. The two martyrs are shown with their parts on a plate.
