Facebook culture 3
I'm working on a PC in the café of the Kingston Hill Learning Resource Centre. Around me are other students - eating, drinking, hanging out. Those who are using the dozen or so PCs in the space tend to be logged on to Facebook rather than to StudySpace (Blackboard as was). I took a photo of this student (who prefers to remain anonymous). She started to use Facebook when she moved away from home to study at university. She uses it to keep in touch with old friends. Interestingly, she mentions uploading photos and looking at friends' photo galleries as one of her main uses of Facebook. She told me that the photos are mainly of nights out, holidays and "things you want to show off" (e.g. cool places you've been to).
