Steelton 1953

The "Steelton" rails from my pile of discarded Norfolk Southern rails in Salem, Virginia. The Steelton steel plant, in Steelton PA, was founded in 1867. It was once a division of Bethlehem Steel. Although BethSteel went bankrupt in 2003, Steelton is still manufacturing rails as ArcelorMittal Steelton. The plant recently achieved ISO 14001 certification, for "superior compliance and adherence to independent standards regulating water and air emissions." Who knew?
