I put a black fabric around the flower, but it didn't photograph black (didn't have my velvet backdrop available today), so I cut it out in post, along with some pieces of leaf.

Strobist: Sunpak flashgun immediate camera right, fired through umbrella. Triggered with PC cord.

This cactus was given to me a long time ago. The original owner split his cactus down the middle, and gave me half. It's most likely a species in wide circulation in Norway for many years. It's been a faithful model for many years, and has been published a few times before (magazines). It flowers up to twice a year, the number of buds depending on how well I care for it (pruning, new soil).
