Join me! :-)
Join me on my today's walk in National Park DE HAMERT!
Photos taken today, November 28, 2007.
In the north of the Dutch province of Limburg - on the eastern banks of the Maas river near Wellerlooi - a wonderfull strech of land, called Landgoed de Hamert, is located. It is a part of National Park De Maasduinen. In the park you can find a variety of landscapes, from forests to open fields with fens. ("Pikmeeuwenwater")
Also the biggest gravehill of the netherlands can be found here. Dating back to 2000 years before Chr. it is one of the oldest royal gravehills in northern Europe.
De Maasduinen National Park has an area of 4.200 ha: woods, heath, bog pools and raised bog. There is a large variety of amphibians, reptiles and birds here. The high river dunes are also worth seeing, as well as the Geldersche Niers canal.
