Someday you'll miss today

model: the super adorable Stefanie Zanon ;-)

I like this photo SO much! :D The light, the colors, her pose... it's like a bucolic dream where I'd like to live in.

A lot of people have been asking me lately and I've mentioned it before already, but I use mostly natural/available light only.

I have a four color reflector (black, white, silver, golden) and I like to use the silver the most. I also have a flash unit that I avoid using at all costs, I only use it at night or really dim lit rooms. I feel the flash makes a photo look more like a... well, like a photo! ^.^ But what I seek in my photos is a more painterly feel to them ;-)

For this photo for exemple, I didn't use the reflector nor the flash, it was natural light only. To get this effect I just had to overexpose the photo (accordingly to what the camera's photometer was telling me) and having the setting sun right behind (and a little to the right) the model. For the previous photo (the country singer) the light conditions (and exposure) were the very same, but I used a silver reflector because I wanted the photo to look a bit sharper. And that's it, no big secret, but actually the big secret for a photographer is to learn how light behaves :P anywhere, in any conditions. And it's a life time learning proccess, it's commitment to becoming good at what you love.

I hope I have helped those who had questions about how I did it :)
