Haunting All Souls' Night
This is a mix of The Ghost Train poem by slbrail87, All Soul's Night song by Loreena McKennitt and The Dong with the Luminous Nose poem by Edward Lear (found in Utter NonSense, book sent to me by Steve, aka Strussler ;-) )
When awful darkness and silence reign
Over the great Gromboolian plain,
Through the long, long wintry nights;
When Storm-clouds brood on the towering heights...
Somewhere in a hidden memory
Images float before my eyes
Of fragrant nights of straw and of bonfires
Dancing 'til the next sunrise.
Then, through the vast and gloomy dark,
There moves what seems a fiery spark,
Piercing the coal-black night,
A meteor strange and bright:
The wind is full of a thousand voices
They pass by the bridge and me.
The witching hour is close at hand
So don't be out alone.
Shades lurk within the ancient woods
For it is All Souls' Night
And those who are dead travel fast;
Their groans fill one with fright.
I can see the lights in the distance
Trembling in the dark cloak of night
Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All...All Souls Night.
Awaking sleeping dead
They left all things behind
Except for sins done in their lives,
Forever chains that bind.
In that endless, darkest hour, hold back your fear
As the rooster crows announcing day's dawn
The weary, naked souls vanish in despair
But they never fail to come back every year
To enhance the mood, take a look at these haunted memories, these are some twisted and wicked images!
