Tuesday lost all my photos

And videos. Due to a wobbly cable, 700 pics (about a month of doozer) got wiped.

Never mind, hm? Some favourite photos are here, on instagram and emailed. And for the rest, I have learnt an important thing.

      Oh no, that's horridly unlucky.

Best advice for the future: Turn on the iCloud photostream feature. I know they're adding sharing and stuff in the future, but forget that, the main thing is that it will quietly in the background upload every photo you take on the iPhone whenever you drift through some wifi, and youe computer, other iOS devices, and all the rest will quietly pull them down in the same way.

Besides the synching conveniences (there's iPhoto integration, if you care for that, or there are just ways to view the photos synced on the Mac directly [blog.benward.me/post/22113784911]) the most important thing is that you've got an almost live back-up, regardless of sync accidents, phone loss, and all the rest.

I'm glad you've still got some of them elsewhere on the web. It's rather lovely being able to watch Linus grow up from afar.

Yup. iCloud photo-back up turned on now. Never mind. I take too many photos anyway.

And thank you, Ben. That's a really helpful, caring comment. Yay for savvy friends.

Did you have your general iPhone backup on at all? It's possible they were backed up there, maybe?
