The wind turbine of the Carleton College was dedicated in September of 2004.
The Danish company N.E.G. Micon recently designed and built the unit. The turbine is capable of producing 6 millions of kilowatt hour of power wich is about 40% of Carleton's electrical needs.
The turbine sits on a 70 meter (230 feet) high tower. The diameter of the blades is 82 meters (270 feet).
The unit is designed for a 20-year life.
The turbine cost $1.8 millon.
