The Western Wall (Hebrew: הכותל המערבי‎, translit.: HaKotel HaMa'aravi) (Arabic: حائط البراق‎, translit.: Ḥā'iṭ Al-Burāq), sometimes referred to as the Wailing Wall or simply the Kotel (lit. Wall; Ashkenazic pronunciation: Kosel), and as al-Buraaq Wall by Muslims,[1] is an important Jewish religious site located in the Old City of Jerusalem. Just over half the wall, including its 17 courses located below street level, dates from the end of the Second Temple period, being constructed around 19 BCE by Herod the Great. The remaining layers were added from the 7th century onwards.

Questo è forse il posto al momento che mi ha dato più emozione in assoluto - ho compreso cosa possa essere la sindrome di Stendhal - grazie di avermelo ricordato così bene.

Did you take the tour under the Kotel?
You can find one of the most amazing things there.'
There is a stone placed in perfect alignment for the building, but the stone wieghs about the weight of 6 747 jetliners. It was brought and placed by Herod's workers. Modern science and technology would not know how to achieve such a feat. But it is there!
The biggest problem the world has in this place is the active program the Waqf (the Muslim authority of Jerusalem) has to deny and remove any trace of Jewish tradition in the area. While I have faith that they cannot succeed, if they did it would harm Christianity more than Judaism, since Christianity was born in this place as the Jewish Temple. Judaism was "born" in the desert.
