Occupy

Exactly a year ago, on May 12, 2012, the global Occupy movement, an international manifestation of the Occupy Wall Street movement that began in New York in September 2011, along with other allied groups, held a global day of action, following the publication of a "Global May Manifesto." I attended the London event, which involved a gathering at St. Paul's Cathedral, where the main Occupy London camp had been located from October 2011 until its eviction on February 28, 2012, and I reported and took photos of the gathering, which was followed by a march through the City to the Bank of England.

I photographed this banner -- and the activists holding it, all wearing the "V for Vendetta" masks that came to symbolise the movement's non-hierarchical aspect, and its revolutionary intent -- on the steps on St. Paul's Cathedral.
