166 orange ribbons and the White House
On January 11, 2013, the 11th anniversary of the opening of Guantánamo, after the official protest in Washington D.C. came to an need -- consisting of a rally at the Supreme Court, and a march to the White House -- a group of protestors, mainly with the anti-torture group Witness Against Torture, decided to proceed to the White House, to tie 166 orange ribbons on the fence -- one for each of the men still held. These are some of those ribbons, and it was very powerful and moving to be part of this remembrance of the prisoners, abandoned by US justice after eleven years of arbitrary detention..
