The poet Luke Nephew calls for the closure of Guantánamo

Peace Poet Luke Nephew, who is also active with the anti-torture group Witness Against Torture, has written some extremely powerful poetry encapsulating the work of the group, whose mainly Catholic members (and also Quakers) sympathize intensely with the plight of the men still held at Guantánamo, and those held and tortured elsewhere. On the 11th anniversary of the opening of Guantánamo, on January 11, 2013, Luke read out a poem in front of the White House in Washington D.C., in President's Park South (aka the Ellipse), as the first speaker amongst those directing their thoughts, their comments and their exhortations towards President Obama.
