Whitley Bay 3 Poole Town 1 FA Vase Semi-final 2nd Leg
Paul Chow fired a hat-trick as Whitley Bay made it to The Final of The FA Vase for the third year in a row.

The Northern League side have won the competition for the last two seasons and their big-game experience told as they motored past Poole to book a third-successive Wembley date.

But it could have all been so different as the Dorset side made a dream start.

Midfielder Dave Sturgess opened the scoring on the day after just eight minutes , which levelled the aggregate score. AFC Bournemouth youth product Dan Cann launched a long throw-in into the box and Sturgess extended a leg to prod home.

The Wessex League side continued to attack but the holders came to life as the half progressed and restored their aggregate lead on the half-hour mark.

The hosts rattled the post but, a minute later, a long ball created confusion in the Poole defence and Chow levelled the scores.

At the start of the second half, the hosts began to ease away as Chow capitalised on some lapse defending to grab his second.

Aaron Skelton was caught dithering and Chow gave Whitley Bay a two-goal cushion with half an hour remaining.

Chow scored in last season’s Final and he made it a hat-trick late on with a composed finish as Bay romped home with an overall 5-2 aggregate scoreline
